Planted Tickets: Agave Leaves as Temporary Canvases

This series of intervened photographs explores how the traces left behind by tourism overlap with the temporal essence of the natural world it impacts.

Agave leaves at Park Güell are commonly engraved by visitors with their names, reflecting the movement of people through the site and across Barcelona. Transported into the gallery, they serve as an allegory for the transient nature of tourism, highlighting the impossibility of remaining fixed in a moment—or in a place as a tourist.

Planted Tickets is an ongoing artistic research project investigating the material and temporal traces left by visitors on the natural landscape of Barcelona’s public parks. The research has manifested in three distinct series across different exhibitions.
